Synopsis

Tawag ng Tanghalan eagerly proves that Filipinos really are natural-born performers. Based on the very popular talent search contest, the story of Tawag ng Tanghalan revolves around a large-scale talent search all over the Philippines, with producers searching every region in the country for new talents. Representing these regions are the various teen stars and idols of the time: the adamant Rock n' Roll champion from Bicol, Filomena; and Susan Roces playing the Darling Inday of the Visayas. Juancho Gutierrez, on the other hand, plays the Hari ng Kundiman from Zamboanga, with Romeo Vasquez playing the "Chicken Bop" King from Luzon and Jose Mari as the Champion Teenage Screwball.

All of these characters go through an extensive audition process, and despite their different performing strengths, manage to become friends - and even find love -in the stressful world of show business.
