FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is it safe to use my credit card on your website?

At Filipino Movie Rentals, we care for your security. We employ state-of-the-art data encryption to ensure safe and secure transactions on our site.

Our payment area is secured using industry standard Secure Sockets Layer technology (SSL). You'll know when you enter this area because the small yellow padlock appears in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. The other indication is in the address bar. When you enter the secure area of the site, the background of the address bar will turn dark yellow. You'll also notice that http:// is replaced by https:// (the ‘s’ standing for ‘Secure’).

Your internet browser provides visual indications that you are inside a secure site and that all data transferred is securely encrypted.

Rest assured that your personal and private information remains secure and private when trading with us.

Can I pay with a check or be billed in the mail?
No. We require a valid credit card for every subscription plan.

Are there any places you won't ship to?
We currently ship only within the U.S. and to places that is services by USPS. Plans for expansions in other countries will be announced.
Are your DVDs originals?
All of our DVD's are the original. We only rent out original copies of each movie.
Are your movies in DVD or VCD format?
Most of our movies are in DVD format. However, not all Filipino movies are available in DVD formats. Most of the older titles are available only in VCD format. If a title is available in DVD format, we only stock the DVD format instead of the VCD format. With DVD, you don't have to stop in the middle of the movie to change discs.

Update: As of middle 2006, we have started phasing out movies in VCD format. Since we started operations, we only carried very few titles that are on VCD format; and these are titles that were not release in DVD format. 99% of our inventory are in DVD format. By early 2008, all titles in VCD format will be totally phased out.

How soon do I get my first movie?
We usually ship your DVDs the next day after you sign up. However, in some cases, it may take 2 - 3 days for us to process your application.
I tried signing up several times but my credit card was declined. What do I do?
Our payment system validates transaction for fraud and for other categories. The most common reason that a credit card transaction is declined is Incorrect Zip Code. This is when the Zip Code that you entered for your Billing Address doesn’t match with the Zip Code where you receive your credit card statements. To correct this, simply enter the correct Zip Code in the Billing Address. Please take note that the Billing Address can be different from the Shipping Address.

Another common cause of failed transaction is Bad Address. Our system also checks for USPS database for address validation. If you get this type of message, please check your address. Sometimes, a # symbol can cause error. If you have an apartment address, try changing # to Apt. as this may fix the problem.

If you're still having problems signing up, please contact our Billing Department so they can assist you in setting up your account. In most cases, we can re-run your credit card transaction manually without the need to re-enter your credit card information.
